Teaching is a one of the most renounced profession in Indian scenario and teachers are more responsible to determined to characteristics of not only students but characteristic of a nation also. It has been observed students frequently accept to their teacher as a role model. Hence students usually try to copy their every single act, wheatear it is healthy or unhealthy because school children are not able to judge. A healthy coping style plays a key role to determine the characteristic of a good teacher. Thus authors are interested to investigate the coping style of school teachers. To study the copping style and gender differences among school teachers. Purposive sampling has adapted in this study for data collection. Various schools of Raipur city Chhattisgarh were listed out for the study sample. A total of 120 teachers (60 females & 60 males) were participated in the study. A semi structured socio-demographic data sheet fallowed by cope scale was used for the assessment. Descriptive Statistics, chi-square, and t-test were used for statistical analysis using Statistical package of social sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. Mean age of male teachers was (43.68) significantly higher than female teachers (37.05). Study revels there was significant difference in several areas of copping style but there was no significant found on broad level in copping of male female teachers. In conclusion it can be said that female teachers are better than male teachers in coping strategies but they does not differ significantly from male teachers. Study also suggests that there is a need to provide proper conducive environment and support to teachers to improve their coping strategies. Teachers should be positive in facing their challenges which will help them to personal and professional skills. It is recommended that regular assessment of their stress level should be conducted by the Guidance Center and Medical Clinic.Keywords

Families often bear a substantial amount of the burden of any illness in a relative and this is true in schizophrenia. Families no longer consider them self a cause but still are obligated to care for their children. A large body of literature explores the familial interactions and clinical course of schizophrenia (Tasman, 2003). Here it's a huge problem of coping of care givers schizophrenia. Coping style is a person's characteristic strategies used in response to life problems or trauma. These can include thoughts, emotions or behaviour. The term coping refers to the process by which a person attempts to manage stressful demands. The aim of the present study was to explore the coping strategies of caregivers of Schizophrenia patients. The sample size of the study is 60 caregivers of schizophrenic patients. The tools used for assessing the variables are Socio Demographic Data Sheet (Self made), General Health Questionnaire, and The Cope Scale. Suggests Emotion-Focused Coping was mostly used by the caregivers of schizophrenic patients.Keywords

Psychoeducation has been emerged as an indispensable mode of treatment in modern day psychiatric treatment. Most mental health clinicians and researchers are in favour of adding psychoeducation as the adjunct to strengthen the other forms of psychiatric treatment because psychoeducation has the potentialities to help the patients and family members know about their creative and positive role in the treatment and enhance their ability to deal with daily stress. Psychoeducation is an adjunctive approach which has the immense potentialities to reduce the relapse as well as rehospitalization rates and mental health costs in relapsing psychiatric disorders. Psychoeducation is understood as systematic, structured, didactic information on the illness and its treatment options and psychoeducation aims to enable patients as well as family membersto cope with the illness. Modern treatment protocols cite psychoeducation as an indispensable part of psychiatric treatment. Psychoeducation for patients with severe and relapsing mental disorder improves the understanding of mental illness, increases the quality of life, and can reduce relapse rates. Family psychoeducation as well has become a strongly supported evidence-based practice in the treatment of chronic and relapsing mental disorders. Psychoeducation in families of patients with such disorders can reduce the relapse rates of these patients, positively influence the course of the patient's illness, and help the families and patients to better cope with the mental illness (Rummel-Kluge et al., 2006). In our review paper we present evidence supporting the efficacy of psychoeducation, the topics to be addressed in a psychoeducational program and its postulated mechanisms of action as well as side-effects.Keywords

"School mental health" in recent years has taken on a much broader meaning, with an increasing emphasis on the host of possibilities that schools provide for clinicians, teachers, administrators, students, families, and community members to collaborate in promoting the overall well-being of all students (ESMH). Mental Health is a state of well being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make contributions to his or her community (Leonard, 2005). To study the mental health among school students 100 students were selected as the sample group, in the age range between 13 to 18 years were taken from 2 schools of Dharmpuri, Indore. Samples were selected purposively for the study. who were fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected for the present study. The tools used for assessing the variables are Socio Demographic Data Sheet & family details (Self made), PGI Health Questionnaire (Verma, Wig, & Pershad, 1985). This study revealed that the frequency and percentage of the subject about their total mental health on both areas healthy and poor health were 57% and 43% respectively.Keywords

This study was two group comparative designs on a sample of 60 children in age group of 6-18 years hailing from an equal number of single and both parent family homes to examine their reported prevalence of problem and to see whether students (males & females) and intact and non-intact families has difference in their Emotional and Behavioural Problems. For assessment of problem behaviors in children, the Emotional and Behavior Problem Scale (EBPS-2) was used in this study. Taking consent for the study, the detail about the study was explained to the students. The socio demographic details were filled by participants and proper instruction was given to the participants. The Emotional and Behaviour Problem Scale (EBPS-2) on 30 both parents and 30 single parent's student were administered. Results show that, on the whole, children from intact parent family homes have fewer behaviour problems than those from single parent households. In relation to associated variables, more boys than girls are reported as having additional problem behaviours within the studied sample in the present study. The results are discussed along with its implications planning parent training and home to deal with Emotional and Behaviour problems and also enrichment training programs especially for the single parent families in our country.Keywords

The term, "developmental disabilities," [i.e., severe chrome conditions that are due to mental and/or physical impairments with an age of onset prior to age 22] "Intellectual disabilities/Mental Retardation", "physical disabilities", and "autism" are terms that are used in India and are subsumed our use of the term developmental disabilities (Center for Disease Control&Prevention, 2004). Mental retardation is one of the most prevalent developmental disabilities. Mental retardation, mental deficiency, mental sub normality and mental handicap, developmental disability or delay are the terms used to refer to the same condition. The terms used m the past such as amentia, idiocy, feeble minded, moron, imbecile and oligophrenia are now obsolete. According to the World Health Organization(1994); Syle(1975); According to the World Health Organization(1994); approximately 156 million people or 3 percent of the world's population have mental retardation. Coping has been defined as problem solving efforts made by an individual when the demands of a given situation tax adaptive resources (Lazarus et al., 1974; Pearlm&Schooler, 1978). To Sturdy of coping strategies used by the parents of mentally retarded and autistic children. A sample of 70 parents i.e. 35 parents of mentally retarded children (18 fathers and 17 mothers ) and 35 parents of autistic children were taken from different institutions of Raipur(Samwedna, Asha, Deep, & Kopalwani) and Chandigarh (Pryaas) who were fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected for the present study. The tools used for assessing the variables are Socio Demographic Data Sheet (Self made), The Cope Scale (Carver et al., 1989). This study revealed that Significant differences were found in two coping strategies, i.e., planning and alcohol drug disengagement both being used more by Parents of autistic children and mentally retaded.Keywords

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder causes in many cases, severe disability. There is a dearth of reliable tools that diagnose difficult cases of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder accurately, particularly those helpful in differentiating it from schizophrenia and depression. Obsessive Style Index was developed by Exner group (1990) with the purpose of diagnosing Obsessive Compulsive Disorder patients accurately. Very little literature is available and probably none from India, regarding the validity of this index. So this research will be an attempt on this path. The aim of the study was to study the socio-demographic profile of the patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, to see the clinical profile of the patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, To see the significance of Obsessive Style Index (OBS) in diagnosing the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder patients and To see the relation in severity of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder on OBS index. A sample of 30 patients (male&female), diagnosed clinically as having OCD by psychiatrists on the basis of ICD-10 diagnostic criteria for research, were selected from out-patient department of the Post Graduate Institute of behavioural and Medical Sciences, Raipur (C.G.). The major thrust of the present study was to see the significance of Obsessive Style Index (OBS) in diagnosing the Obsessive- Compulsive Disorder patients and to see the relation in severity of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder on OBS index. In essence, the present study highlights the obsessive style index (OBS) needs to be modified if it is to be used to identity the cases of obsessive compulsive disorder in our Indian population or some other measure should be used.Keywords
